TweetChat recently got the chance to talk to #PPCChat founder Matt Umbro. Matt gives us more insight on his background, what inspired #PPCChat, and he also tells us why he chooses to use TweetChat.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am the Director of Paid Search at Exclusive Concepts and have been in the PPC industry since 2007. I have worked and collaborated with clients across several industries to attain better ROIs, improved lead generation and increased brand awareness. Most importantly, I love everything paid search!
Twitter is the best way to connect with fellow PPC Specialists on an instantaneous basis. By using the hashtag, everyone at any time can see blogs, updates, questions and more from their peers. TweetChat allows me to view all of this great information in one central location.
What is your chat about?
PPCChat is a weekly Twitter chat that brings together PPC specialists and online marketers across the world. Occurring every Tuesday at 12 PM EST and designated with the hashtag #PPCChat, participants discuss a wide range of PPC topics from fundamental concepts to advanced theory. Within this forum, knowledge is shared and debates ensue in order to educate and enlighten the PPC community. The hashtag is also used throughout the week to ask questions, share blog posts, and to present PPC news and information.
What inspired the chat?
At my former agency I was the only PPC Specialist and didn’t have anyone to bounce ideas off. I created a Twitter account and started to follow and interact with other PPC Specialists. Not only was I able to share my thoughts, but I was learning so much. I started to see Twitter chats emerge like SEO Chat and BlogChat and thought it would be great for a weekly PPC discussion. I gauged interest and found that many users would like to participate. So on April 5, 2011, the first PPCChat was held and it has been going strong ever since!
Can you share with us one or two success stories from TweetChat?
It’s not necessarily about TweetChat, but here is an example of an employee being hired because of PPCChat – http://www.getfoundfirst.com/blog/big-news-for-the-ppc-management-world/.
How can TweetChats help build your community?
TweetChat is an amazing resource for those looking to aggregate all tweets around a central hashtag. I’ve found the platform extremely useful when conducting PPCChat and engaging with the community on an ongoing basis.
